An area rich in history, the Northeast part of Arkansas is as enchanting now as it was in the early 1800's. This is home to Arkansas oldest city, Davidsonville, established in 1815 and also home to the first Post Office and Courthouse in Arkansas.

It is said this is the area "Where the Delta rises to meet the Ozarks" and there is abundance in the natural beauty of contrasting vistas. Many rivers flow through this area and it is home to some of the best water fowl hunting, canoeing and fishing. The legendary Princess Pocohontas called this home and the town of Pocohontas is located in the only county in Arkansas that has five rivers.

Author John Grisham hailed from this area of Arkansas and many of his 'can't put down' books detail the life and times of this enriched countryside. Jonesboro is home to the newly completed Crowley's Ridge Nature Center - one of just 4 planned for Arkansas and provides an interesting tour of the natural wonders of the region. It is well worth the trip to drive the Crowley's Ridge Scenic Byway.

West Memphis is on the southern edge of this area and is a city beaming with opportunity. For those who enjoy a bit of the heart pounding excitement, it is home to the Southland Greyhound Park. Greyhound racing at its best. This area also boasts great shopping, dining, and entertainment..in fact, Memphis, TN is only 15 minutes away and the music is the best of the South!

Named a "Southern Travel Treasure" by AAA Southern Travel Magazine, it is well worth your time to explore this area of Northeastern Arkansas. Follow the "River Road" that parallels the Mississippi River. Wander the river towns that are steeped in Americas History and enjoy your time in this area of Arkansas!
