On the Western boundary of the Ozarks in Southeast Kansas lies the region where the local folks refer to themselves as the Little Ozarks. Home to historical forts and stockades, this area beckons the traveler to explore the vast history that abounds here.

This region also boasts many State Parks and the hunting and fishing is abundant. The area was rich in coal mining and the state has taken some of these areas to make wildlife preserves and fishing lakes in the now flooded coal mine pits.
